When seeking to belong we tend to look at the group we want to belong to and doubt our ability to be a part of that group. We may thus feel like outsiders.
Whenever this happens, the identity becomes one of an outsider.
It helps to remember that it’s not possible to be an outsider. Someone who is an outsider is at the same time an insider who belongs to the group of outsiders.
Choosing between insider and outsider means to chose to which group one belongs.
