The whole and its parts

The whole & its parts

Choosing a point of view

People are ok.

They are born with a constructive approach.

They do what feels right to them. Otherwise, they wouldn’t do it.

But it doesn’t mean, that what they do will be perceived as being ok by everyone.

I was reminded of this while reading an article about Jack Welch. He was known for his candor. He would be blunt and his feedback direct. Some perceived his approach as cruelty. For him it was kindness. They saw the short term. He looked at the short term. He trusted people and their ability to change and grow when being told.

In truth, some will have experienced it as cruelty and others will have seen generosity.

Intention matters.

There is no guarantee that it will be seen or understood.

It will be right one day. It will be wrong another time.

Point of view and intention determine our compass.

We have to choose.
